APPLICATIONS for MEMBERSHIP

 
 
 

The club operates two tiers of membership – Group A and Group B; in addition it offers practice/improvers sessions primarily for non- members.

Applicants should look at the web page headed SESSIONS for details of playing sessions.

Play at all sessions is in accord with the Laws of Duplicate Bridge as defined by the EBU. Applicants not familiar with these are advised to attend a number of Practice Sessions before making a formal application to join.

Applicants for Group A membership should be playing on Tuesday or Friday evenings. Applicants who wish to play more than twice a month on these evenings must contact the Secretary.

Applicants for Group B membership should be playing on Monday evenings. Applicants who wish to play more than twice a month on these evenings must contact the Secretary .

Applicants should have played in at least 8 sessions over a period of 4 months and should have an average score of 40% or more at the apporpriate sessions.


Visitors are advised to ensure that they sign the visitor’s book at each attendance.

Completed Application Forms will be displayed on the club notice board for at least 14 days before the Committee Meeting that will receive the application. Application Forms must be signed by a proposer and seconder both of at least two years standing in the club. They should be prepared to play with the applicant and introduce him/her to other members of the club.

Committee members should not discuss the progress of any application; all enquiries should be directed to the Secretary. You will be notified whether your application is either accepted or refused shortly after the Committee Meeting that received the application. There may be occasions when any decision is deferred, particularly for Group B where vacancies can be scarce due to high demand. In those cases applications will be kept displayed on the notice board.
